& PNF Stretching
I have my own Sports Massage clinic in Bransgore.
This invigorating massage is suitable for
those training for an event, in a sports team or working out to stay fit.
It’s perfect for developing ankle, knee, hip, back, shoulder and elbow flexibility and suppleness. It can help speed recovery, relieve muscle tension, ease joints, prevent injury and improve flexibility. It’s from the philosophy that the body is fully systemic and should
one joint be out of position, it can ricochet a problem throughout the body.
For example, a number of problems in the body are corrected through realigning the feet.
Therefore, sessions work from toe to neck and last one hour.
The PNF (Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation) stretching aspect combines passive stretching and isometrics with your muscle alternatingly stretched passively and contracted.
The technique targets nerve receptors, called the golgi-tendons, in the muscles to extend the muscle length. Through stretching the relaxed muscle, then asking for a voluntary contraction back against the restriction I place on the muscle further stretching is achieved; and then massaged afterwards.
This technique of alternating stretching and contracting is repeated several times where necessary, in order to stretch a bit further each time.
